Uganda Today Edition: Kampala Gen Z Stand Up Against Corruption: Analyzing the Recent Demonstrations

Kampala, Uganda – On July 23, 2024, the streets of Kampala witnessed a powerful display of activism as hundreds of Generation Z youths took to the streets to protest against rampant corruption in Uganda. The demonstrations, which were organized through social media channels, saw young Ugandans from all walks of life united in their demand for accountability and transparency from their leaders.

The protests were sparked by a series of high-profile corruption scandals that have plagued the country in recent years. Among the key grievances were allegations of embezzlement of public funds, bribery, and lack of prosecution of corrupt officials. The demonstrators carried placards with slogans such as “Stop Corruption Now” and “Our Future Matters,” emphasizing their desire for a better and more just Uganda.
