Agatha Atuhairwe Leads Kampala Demonstrations Against Military Court Martial

Aartha Atuhairwe arrested: Following the incarceration of Kizza Besigye and his friend Obeid Lutale in Luzira maximum prison, and the subsequent sentence of 9 months imprisonment of one of his lawyers Eron Kiiza by Makindye Military Court Martial, Agartha Atuhairwe a renkowned human rights activist together with 7 mostly young women lead a demonstration at the High Court in Kampala against imputy, chanting civilians are nto soldiers, civilians shouldnt be tried in court martial, free Eron Kiiza, free Besigye, Free Obeid Lutale

A male demonstrator among the group that were led by Agartha Atuhairwe displaying a placard denouncing impunity and the trial and incarceration of Eron Kiiza. This was at the princincts of the High Court in Kampala in the morning of January  09, 2025. This demonstrator, was arrested by police.

Kampala– Following the incarceration of Kizza Besigye and his friend Obeid Lutale in Luzira maximum prison, and the subsequent sentence of 9 months imprisonment of one of his lawyers Eron Kiiza by Makindye Military Court Martial, Agartha Atuhairwe a renowned human rights activist together with 7 others mostly young women led a demonstration at the High Court in Kampala against impunity, ”chanting civilians are not soldiers, civilians shouldn’t be tried in court martial, free Eron Kiiza, free Besigye, Free Obeid Lutale”

Police at the High court arrested Agartha and one of the male demonstrators and immediately took them to Kampala central police station. A contingent of anti riot police swung into action to pursue the fleeing other demonstrators who ran away in the direction of Lumumba avenue.
