Kampala, Uganda – The highly anticipated 70th birthday celebrations of the Kabaka of Buganda, His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, have captured the attention of both local and international corporate entities. Leading the pack are Makerere University and Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC), which have taken center stage in supporting this historic occasion.

This milestone is particularly significant as Kabaka Mutebi II becomes the first reigning Kabaka to clock 70 years of age while on the throne in the Kingdom of Buganda. The kingdom, with its rich history dating back to the late 14th century, is over 600 years old. It is believed to have been founded when the Ganda people, under their Kabaka (ruler), established strong centralized control over their domains, forming the Buganda Kingdom.

As part of the celebrations, corporate organizations have pledged financial support, branded merchandise, and sponsorships for the annual Kabaka Birthday Run, a flagship biggest Uganda one day calendar year event that raises awareness and funds for key health initiatives in Uganda. This year’s edition has seen a surge in corporate participation, underscoring the Kabaka’s influence and the significance of this milestone.
