Parliament And Its Style Of Spendthrift

President Calls On Citizens To Be Frugal Amidst Economic Crisis But Government Does The Opposite

The Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Uganda’s parliament have each received state of the art Mercedes Benz cars that have cost government billions of tax payers money.

The Speaker of Parliament Anita Amongi is on  spot for buying  exorbitant  Mercedes Benz cars for her and her deputy official use at a hooping 2.4 billions. It is alleged that all PPDA and Parliament procurement procedures were flouted in this procurement process.

Clerk to Parliament, Adolf Mwesigye  disassociated  himself from the Mercedes Benz transaction. There’s rife belief that Speaker Amongi has since her ascendancy to the position of speaker,  personalised the administration of Parliament and has usurped all all hitherto decentralized powers including those of generating expenditure.

The fresh scandal now is that of the purchase of AMG Mercedes Benz car, an official vehicle for the Speaker.

REPLACEMENT OF CONTRACTS COMMITTEE MEMBERS

The Parliament contracts committee opposed the deal, stating the purchase had no value for money. Anita Among used her powers as chairperson of Parliamentary commission to sack and replace the entire contracts committte in order to pave way for the illicit deal.

ALLEGED INFLATION OF VALUE FOR MERCEDES BENZ BY BP £ 160.000.
The sacking of the contracts committee paved way for inflation of the price of the Benz from British pound 100,000 to British pound £ 260,000 . In the entire transaction process,  a kill of BP £160.000 per vehicle was secured.

ALLEGED SPEAR MOTORS REFUSAL TO ISSUE INFLATED INVOICE
In the process of procuring the vehicle,  the speaker purportedly approached Spear Motors to issue to  an inflated invoice indicating the preferred value and specifications of the car, to which the renowned Mercedes Benz dealer declined.

The Mercedes Benz Car for the Speaker has a host of complications that are not only limited to its service, which apparently can not be done from Spear Motors Uganda

Having failed to get an inflated invoice from Spear Motors, it is alleged that the speaker flew to Dubai and contacted dealers, who issued an inflated  invoice for the car.

SPEAKER CONNECTS WITH CAR DEALERS IN THE UK

While in Dubai, Speaker was put in connected with car dealers based in UK. This is most probably the racket comprising  of Nigerians and Ugandans who deal in top of the range vehicles and sell them cheaply to different parts of the world.
It’s a fact that Interpol has many times come to Uganda to recover stolen vehicles from the Uk.
The Mercedes Benz in question may now be a subject of investigations by Interpol on suspicion of being stolen from the UK.

MERCEDES BENZ IS 2021 MODEL NOT 2022 MODEL, SPEAKER LAMBASTS CRITICISM

The Speaker took to her Twitter handle to lambast all those criticizing her

It has been established that the subject Mercedes Benz is of model 2021 and not 2022 as presented.
The mis-representation of the specifications is aimed at justifying the purchase price of £ 260.000.

SPEAKER’S MERCEDES BENZ CAN ONLY BE SERVICED IN DUBAI
Some members of Parliament have raised issues on findings so far that the official Mercedes Benz has no warranty , neither can it be serviced by Spear Motors. In the event its service falls due, it may be required to be airlifted to Dubai.

All brand new vehicles come with a 3 year warranty, but this is not the case with the speaker’s Benz. This further raises fears that the car procuring process was deliberately flouted.
