At The Dawn Of Thursday January 18, 2024, Residences Of Kyagulanyi At Magere, Dr. Kizza Besigye At Kasangati And That Of The Lord Mayor At Wakaliga, Were All Besieged By Police That Effectively Put The Trio Under House Arrest To Prevent Them From Leading The Demonstrations.

Uganda Today: On Tuesday January 16, 2024, opposition leaders converged at the FDC splinter group offices at Katonga road to announce the onset of demonstrations aimed at showing NAM delegates sitting in Kampala, the deplorable conditions of various infrastructures especially roads.
The Kabaka of Buganda also took off time to tour Mulungu pier at Munyonyo.

Government has done it best to make sure that NAM delegates travel on only roads that have been given a face lift. On this note the state of the art Entebbe Express Highway up to Munyonyo was completely designated for delegates only while parts of the trunk road of Northern Bypass were also cut off for use by citizens.

Opposition supporters elsewhere in various parts of Kampala actively followed their leaders command by planting banana trees in all pothole filled roads in Kampala.

Kyagulanyi and Besigye decried the government decision that has not only inconvenienced citizens but has adversely affected the country’s gross domestic product “GDP”. They therefore announced demonstrations to let the world know that all isnt well in Uganda.
