KAMPALA — Uganda is set for a historic fusion of entertainment and environmental advocacy as renowned conservationist Dr. Ssemugenyi launches the country’s first-ever green music concert, code-named Simba Omuti. The groundbreaking event is scheduled to take place on December 20, 2025, at the Mellennium Park Lugogo Kampala.
The Simba Omuti concert marks the official introduction of what Dr. Ssemugenyi has coined “Music Greening” — a strategy that merges the power of music with community-driven environmental restoration. Global Award Winner Turns Music Into a Tool for Conservation
Dr. Ssemugenyi, a global award-winning environmentalist, has earned international recognition for his innovative Every Birthday Tree Day Initiative (EBTDI). The initiative encourages Ugandans to commemorate their birthdays by planting a number of trees equivalent to the age they are celebrating.
Through this simple yet powerful approach, thousands of trees have been planted across the country, transforming birthdays into annual acts of conservation.
Beyond environmental leadership, Dr. Ssemugenyi is also celebrated for his philanthropic work, especially in supporting young learners. He provides bursary sponsorships to students across various schools, empowering vulnerable children and promoting education as part of his broader community-impact mission.
100 Students to Receive Bursaries at the Green Concert
In line with his commitment to youth empowerment, Dr. Ssemugenyi has announced that 100 students whose parents attend the Simba Omuti concert will receive full bursaries.
This gesture aims to underscore the concert’s dual mission: nurturing the environment and uplifting communities.
