Uganda Today Edition: Opul Skilling Foundation Africa (OSFA): Empowering Lives, Transforming Communities
Opportunities for Universal Livelihood (OPUL) Skilling Foundation Africa (OSFA) is at the forefront of addressing youth unemployment and poverty through innovative skilling and job creation programs. Established in 2019 by Dr. Opul Joseph, this indigenous, non-governmental, and not-for-profit organization is a beacon of hope for vulnerable and unemployed youth in Uganda and beyond.
Registered under the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (Reg No: 80034182603543) and certified by the NGO Board (Certificate No: IDR166405985NB), OSFA also enjoys access to EU & USAID support (Pool Code: UG24086433321). With its national mandate and far-reaching vision, OSFA is shaping the future of communities by fostering self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
A Pillar of Community Transformation
OSFA works tirelessly to complement government efforts to uplift the lives of citizens. By empowering youth and women—who constitute the majority of Uganda’s population—the organization focuses on skills development, capacity building, and creating linkages with funders, government bodies, and development organizations.
The foundation’s partnerships with key organizations such as the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Uganda Industrial Research Institute, Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Limited (UWEAL), The Federation of Associations of Uganda Exporters, and the Uganda Small Scale Industries Association further bolster its ability to deliver impactful programs.
Key Focus Areas
OSFA’s programs are deeply rooted in research and data-driven solutions, enabling it to address the unique challenges faced by communities. Its activities include:
- Skilling and Training: Offering hands-on training to youth and women in vocational, technical, and entrepreneurial skills.
- Capacity Building: Strengthening government and community structures to sustainably deliver development programs.
- Community Empowerment: Providing knowledge and skills for sustainable living and improved livelihoods.
- Employment Opportunities: Creating jobs for youth and women through partnerships with local industries and international organizations.
With a blended team of professionals boasting over a decade of experience in various fields of development, OSFA ensures its programs are culturally sensitive, responsive to community needs, and designed to create lasting impact.
Seeking Partners for a Greater Vision
OSFA’s vision extends beyond Uganda’s borders. The foundation seeks both local and international partnerships to scale its impact across Africa. By collaborating with organizations like the African Union, European Union, UNICEF, and others, OSFA aspires to create employment opportunities that transcend national boundaries.
By partnering with OSFA, you can play a vital role in addressing unemployment and poverty across Africa, enabling youth and women to achieve self-reliance and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
