What would be the qualities of an ideal
prime minister in Uganda who is also leader of government business? A prime minister is the chief political coordinator and political supervisor of fellow ministers. I expect him or her to posses authority in her to command respect from fellow ministers. He/she should be knowledgeable about state policies and systems or experience or ideological superiority above those he/she supervises.
As leader of government business in Parliament he/she is expected to answer queries from MPs on both sides of the divide satisfactorily without appearing to be overtly biased. He/she should be a cunning person with good relational intelligence and emotional intelligence enough to cool down tempers.
A prime minister in Uganda’s context is expected to have authority not derived necessarily from the position so occupied but from the personality in terms of knowledge, experience and people skills, I hope the new prime minister is bringing to cabinet and Parliament such skills and knowledge.
