Walumbe Valley, Kamuli-Jinja Road – A tragic accident involving a Tata lorry, registration number UBD 023V, loaded with sugarcane from Kamuli and headed to Kakira Sugar Works, has claimed the lives of two individuals. The accident occurred in Walumbe Valley along the Kamuli-Jinja highway, leaving a scene of devastation and sorrow.

According to an eyewitness, Naikazi Joy, the truck veered off the road and overturned, crushing its cargo and trapping victims beneath the wreckage. “It all happened so fast. The driver seemed to struggle with control before the truck tumbled into the valley,” she recounted.

Emergency responders and local residents rushed to the scene in a desperate attempt to rescue those trapped under the wreckage. The two deceased victims, whose identities remain unconfirmed, suffered fatal injuries before help could reach them.

Preliminary reports suggest that overloading and mechanical failure may have contributed to the crash. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident to determine the exact cause and prevent similar incidents in the future.
