Uganda Today Edition: Tragic Downpour Claims Lives in Kampala
Kampala, Uganda – In the early hours of Wednesday, March 26, 2025, a torrential downpour wreaked havoc across Kampala, leading to the tragic loss of at least five lives. The Kampala Metropolitan Police confirmed these fatalities, with spokesperson Luke Oweyesigire stating, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to the heavy rains. Our teams are on the ground providing assistance and assessing the full extent of the damage.”
In Mulimira Zone Bukoto, two children died in a house where their mother, who is suspected to be an early riser, left them sleeping to go about her trade that necessitates reaching the market in the wee hours of the morning. She left the children locked up in the house, rendering the neighbours rescue mission quite impossible.
The relentless rains caused severe flooding in multiple neighborhoods, submerging homes, disrupting traffic, and leaving many residents stranded. Emergency services have been mobilized to aid those affected and to restore normalcy to the city. Red Cross Spokesperson Irene Nakasiita stated
Lydia Jazmine’s Daring Display Amidst the Deluge
In a lighter turn of events, renowned Ugandan singer Lydia Jazmine, known offstage as Lydia Nabawanuka, seemed undeterred by the morning’s tempest. The 33-year-old songstress, celebrated for hits like “You Know,” took to social media to share a captivating photo that left fans both amused and intrigued.
In the midst of the city’s chaos, Jazmine posted a tantalizing snapshot of herself striking a pose that accentuated her, shall we say, natural endowments. Clad in a daring ensemble that left little to the imagination, she captioned the photo: “Rain or shine, the show must go on. #Unstoppable #RainyDayVibes.”
Fans were quick to react, with comments ranging from admiration to playful banter. One follower quipped, “Even the rain couldn’t wash away that confidence!” while another remarked, “Kampala’s weather is unpredictable, but so is Lydia’s boldness!”
While the city grappled with the aftermath of the devastating rains, Jazmine’s audacious post provided a momentary distraction, reminding everyone of the resilience and spirit that Kampala’s residents embody.
As recovery efforts continue, authorities urge residents to exercise caution and prioritize safety during such unpredictable weather events.
