Top Government Official Fulfills Late Husband’s Dream with Launch of Four-Star Hotel in Ibanda

Ibanda Town was abuzz this Christmas as Mrs. Lucy Nakyobe Mbonye, Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet, officially unveiled AK Resort, a luxurious four-star hotel built in honor of her late husband, Dr. Anthony Mbonye. The multi-billion-shilling project marks a significant milestone in fulfilling Dr. Mbonye’s vision of creating a world-class hospitality establishment in the heart of Western Uganda.

Dr. Mbonye, who was laid to rest in Rwenkobwa, Ibanda District, in July 2021, had long harbored plans to construct a premier hotel in his hometown. Following his passing, Mrs. Nakyobe took it upon herself to complete the dream, investing over Shs 6 billion to bring the project to fruition.

The hotel, named AK Resort, opened its doors to the public during the festive season, drawing crowds eager to experience its high-quality services. The resort boasts top-tier accommodations, exquisite continental cuisine, and state-of-the-art amenities, positioning it as a beacon of hospitality in the region.

In an exclusive interview, a family source shared that Mrs. Nakyobe dedicated the project to her late husband’s legacy and the community of Ibanda. “Dr. Mbonye envisioned a place where people could enjoy exceptional service in a serene environment. Mrs. Nakyobe has turned that vision into reality,” the source said.
