Uganda Today: I wonder if there is any such thing as creativity in human thinking. Having observed the patterns of human thought, there seems to be NO creativity because thought is repetitious, we use thought/memory to maintain our identities—you can only know who are by remembering who you are which is repetition of thought/memory. We often think of creativity as the use of “original” ideas to come up with something new but I do not think there is any such thing as “new ideas”. Ideas are only modified but never new. All ideas are based on certain models. For example, we wouldn’t be able to come up with the idea of airplanes if there was no model in nature called “birds” to imitate.
The only thing that is creative is LIFE because life doesn’t use anything as a model. Every single human being has a different iris scan, a different fingerprint from the other—you will never come across two human beings who share the same cellular structure. Therefore, to me there is no creativity in knowledge, no creativity in human inventions—only modifications of what we have observed in nature or modification of past knowledge is what we call creativity. Life is creative because without the creativity of life, we wouldn’t survive for long. Our cell structure keeps changing and adapting to new diseases so that life can continue. Even when Covid-19 hit, our bodies became creative and quickly adapted through herd immunity.
