UgandaToday: Sudden Death of St. Paul Kulambiro Laity Head Shocks Faithful
The Church of Uganda community is mourning the sudden death of David Magezi Kitagenda, the Head of the Laity at St. Paul Kulambiro Church of Uganda, who collapsed and died on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
According to preliminary accounts from individuals present at the scene, Kitagenda’s death occurred at around midday at Bulamu Gayaza, where he had reportedly gone to purchase household supplies. According to those who know the life back ground of Mr. Magezi, he was suffering from heart related disease.
Collapse During Routine Activity
Eyewitnesses say the deceased had just finished loading home supplies into the boot of his car when he suddenly collapsed. Those nearby rushed to his aid, but he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
“He was simply packing items into his vehicle. There was no sign of distress or illness moments before,” said one witness who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.
Community in Shock
News of Kitagenda’s sudden passing quickly spread to Kulambiro and beyond, leaving members of the church and local residents in disbelief. Described by many as humble, dedicated, and deeply committed to church service, Kitagenda was a well-known figure within the parish.
Leaders and congregants at St. Paul Kulambiro have expressed profound sorrow, remembering him as a pillar of the laity and an active participant in church programs.
Calls for Calm as Family Grieves
By press time, family members and church leaders were coordinating burial arrangements. Friends and colleagues have called for respect, prayers, and privacy for the bereaved family during this difficult period.
Authorities had not yet issued an official statement regarding the cause of death, though sudden medical complications are suspected.
A Life of Service Remembered
Kitagenda’s death marks a significant loss for the church community, where he played a visible leadership role and was widely regarded as a servant-leader devoted to faith and fellowship. Further details will be provided as information becomes available.
