Police Warns Politicians

Uganda Today: Uganda Police is once again up in arms with National Unity Platform (NUP), allegedly accusing the political party headed by erstwhile presidential contender Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu A.K.A Bobi Wine, started a move to rejuvenate their party structures under a strategy they code named “Kunga Uganda”. Last week National Unity Platform chairman for mobilisation Fred Nyanzi was brutally arrested in Kyenjojo while carring out this mobilisation drive. However, a statement issued by the police spokesperson, indicates that NUP are clandestinely working to cause havoc.

NUP’s banner Police claims to have been seized. It is inscribed by the word ” Yessaawa” literally meaning it is time now.

Fred Enanga’s Statement

As the Joint Security Agencies, we have obtained credible plans by NUP to reactivate their structures, through various mobilisation drives, in cities and major towns, to cause acts of disorder and lawlessness in the country. This development comes at a time when the county has been very peaceful.

We therefore, call upon the NUP leadership to avoid such clandestine methods of work and instead use legitimate means to achieve their objectives. We also encourage them to emulate the other political parties like the FDC, NRM and DP, that have continued to work within the provisions of the POMA and in harmony with the police.

We would like to reassure the public especially the private and business sector, that we shall not allow any acts that are in breach of the prevailing peace and security in the country, to occur.

All our response teams are on standby and will respond, swiftly, targeting the ring leaders and perpetrators of violence involved. This is to ensure the rights of other Ugandans to life, property, peace and safety are not disrupted. Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga announced.
