UgandaToday: NAOBP Cracks the Whip: Pulse Post, UgandaPost, and Homeboyz Radio Suspended Over Non-Compliance

Kampala, Uganda – The National Association of Online Broadcasters and Publishers (NAOBP) has suspended three prominent media outlets—Pulse Post, UgandaPost, and Homeboyz Radio Uganda—citing non-compliance with registration requirements.
The suspension, announced by NAOBP Secretary Joan Vumilia, will remain in effect until the outlets fulfill the necessary obligations and undergo reinspection by the association’s regulatory committee.
The move has ignited debate within the media industry. While some stakeholders welcomed the decision as a step toward enforcing professional standards, others raised concerns about the broader implications for press freedom in Uganda.
Among those affected is Homeboyz Radio Uganda, which broadcasts on 106.2 FM in Kampala and has earned a loyal following nationwide with its vibrant mix of music and entertainment. The two online outlets—Pulse Post and UgandaPost—have also built strong digital audiences, particularly after joining NAOBP following an open invitation published by Daily Express Uganda.
The suspension underscores the wider challenges faced by media organizations in Uganda’s complex regulatory environment, where compliance with licensing and professional standards remains a hurdle for many.
NAOBP, under the leadership of Chairman Nyanzi Martin Luther, maintains that its decision is rooted in a commitment to creating a more professional, credible, and responsible media sector. However, questions remain about the future of the suspended outlets. Will they meet the requirements and regain their platforms, or does this suspension signal a permanent exit?
For now, the fate of Pulse Post, UgandaPost, and Homeboyz Radio Uganda hangs in the balance as the industry watches closely.
