🇺🇬 FUFA announces the return of Micho Sredojevic as Uganda Cranes head coach

Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has returned as the head coach of the Uganda Cranes on a three-year contract. 

Micho returns for his second second tenure as Uganda Cranes head coach on a three three-year contract effective 1st August 2021.

“Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) hereby announces that Mr. Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has been appointed Head coach of the Uganda Cranes on a three-year renewable contract effective 1st August 2021,” a statement from FUFA read. 

The 51-year-old left his role as Uganda coach four years ago citing unpaid arrears. The Serbian has a contractual mandate to name his backroom staff. 

Micho, a Serbian popularly nicknamed Sserunjogi in Uganda, is a seasoned football coach on the African continent where he has managed to spur various clubs to desired levels of lifting tournaments.

Micho guided Uganda Cranes to qualify for 2017 Africa Cup of Nations tournament that was hosted in Gabon. It should be noted that Uganda had last participated in this tournament in 1978 in Ghana where Uganda was beaten to 2-0 at finals by the host Ghana.

Micho was involuntarily compelled to vacate Uganda Cranes because of remunerations issues.

He presided over 68 Uganda Cranes matches during the job he commenced in 2013 running through to 2017.

Micho has coached Orlando Pirates of South Africa, Sports Club Villa of Uganda, Rwanda’s Amavubi and Zambia’s Kipolopolo which he is leaving to return to Uganda.
