Uganda Today: Oweyegha Afunaduula
It is true. I am a true East African. I was born in East Africa. I got my primary, secondary and A-level education in East Africa. I got my undergraduate and graduate education at the University of Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania and University of Nairobi, Kenya respectively. I worked as a Fisheries Research Officer in the East African Marine Fisheries Research Organization (EAMFRO) of the East African Community (EAC) at Zanzibar. I worked as a Research Zoologist 1 in the Tanzania National Parks (TNP). I taught at primary level, secondary level and A-level in Uganda and Kenya. I lectured at Makerere University, Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) and Busoga University. I was Chairman of the Uganda Nile Basin Forum (UNBF) and Chairman of Nile Basin Discourse (NBD) both with Headquarters in Uganda. For a long time I have been interested in regionalism and regional issues and have written extensively on regionality. I retired from public space and settled in my rural area. I continue to use the power of the pen to express my thoughts and opinions on challenges, problems and issues of development, transformation and progress in East Africa locally, nationally and regionally. My current interests are transboudariness, new knowledge production, knowledge integration and reintegration, Reintegration of Knowledge and Truth, Reintegration of Science and Faith, Reintegration of Religion and Politics. To sum up my current interests I am writing a wide-ranging article “Reintegrating Knowledge and Truth: Science, Religion and Politics are not Diametrically-Opposed”. This is in line with my continuing intellectual work on higher and continuing education in Africa. It is the gift I want to leave for Uganda, East Africa, Africa and the World. I want to believe that it is divine-driven.
