Kampala – Parliamentary Avenue- The Ugandan capital was rocked by a shocking incident on Wednesday morning when a man identified as Benjamin Agaba set himself ablaze outside the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, adjacent to the Parliament of Uganda.

Eyewitnesses recount that Agaba arrived at the scene carrying a bottle of petrol, doused himself in the flammable liquid, and struck a match, instantly engulfing himself in flames. The fire erupted as onlookers screamed in shock, prompting police officers stationed at the ministry to intervene swiftly.

Dressed in yellow, a colour synonymous with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, Agaba collapsed to the ground, writhing in pain as the flames devoured his clothes. Security personnel quickly moved in, extinguishing the fire and rushing him to Mulago National Referral Hospital for emergency medical attention.

While the motive behind his drastic action remains unclear, sources indicate that Agaba had expressed frustrations over political grievances. He allegedly felt abandoned by the ruling party after suffering personal losses linked to his political affiliations.
