Uganda Today: Lumundi Village Beams with Joy as Angela Nalutaaya Introduces Mulangira Moses in Star-Studded Ceremony
Luweero District, Uganda — In a celebration marked by cultural elegance, familial pride, and celebrity presence, Lumundi Village in Katikamu Gombolola, Luweero District, came alive as Angela Sanyu Nalutaaya Lubinga, daughter of Salongo and Nalongo Dan Lubinga, officially introduced her fiancé, Mulangira Moses, to her family and clan in a colorful kwanjula ceremony held over the weekend.
The tranquil rural backdrop of Lumundi momentarily transformed into a vibrant cultural stage, drawing community members, relatives, and dignitaries from all walks of life. At the heart of the festivity stood Angela Nalutaaya, radiant and poised, making a life-affirming declaration of love and commitment in line with Buganda tradition.
The atmosphere reached a crescendo when renowned local music icon Haruna Mubiru, affectionately known as Kitooke, made a surprise appearance. Mubiru, who earned national acclaim for his soulful hit “Ekitooke Kifa Nsalira”, personally ushered Angel to the ceremonial dais, captivating guests with his charisma. His presence was courtesy of Brigadier Proscovia Nalweyiso, a respected figure in Uganda’s military and cultural spheres, who lent further prestige to the occasion.
Adding a layer of dignified prestige, members of the Rotary Club of Kampala North, to which the bride’s father Mr. Daniel Lubinga is an active member, were also in attendance. Clad in traditional attire and Rotary regalia, they stood as a symbol of service, unity, and friendship, further dignifying the family’s stature in the community.
The groom, Mulangira Moses, arrived with an impressive entourage bearing a galaxy of gifts—ranging from cultural tokens to modern household items—symbolizing gratitude to the bride’s family for raising a woman of virtue and beauty. The presentation of gifts, deeply rooted in Buganda marriage tradition, was met with ululations and songs from the jubilant crowd.
Cultural proceedings were led with grace and authority by Mrs. Peninah Balambi Ssenkaali, the bride’s Senga (paternal aunt), who formally introduced the groom to the family and clansmen. Drawing from her own half-century of marital experience with her husband Mr. Ssenkaali, she advised her niece to embody loyalty, patience, and respect in her new role as a wife.
“You must build your home with wisdom and grace. I’ve been with your uncle for 50 years—there’s nothing love and prayer can’t overcome,” she shared, drawing applause from guests.
Angela Sanyu’s marriage marks a continued journey in the Lubinga family’s evolution. She follows in the footsteps of her three elder siblings, all of whom have already embarked on family life. As the Lubingas transition towards an “empty nest,” the day was bittersweet—a celebration of a daughter’s new beginning and a parent’s pride in letting go.
Guests were treated to a feast of traditional and contemporary dishes, accompanied by music, dance, and heartfelt speeches that underscored the importance of culture, family, and community in nurturing love.

The day’s catalogue of activities was capped by celebrations of the bride’s grandmother Maama Mayombwe’s 96th birthday that had fallen the previous day.
As dusk settled over Lumundi, it was evident that this was more than a wedding introduction—it was a moment of unity, tradition, and generational continuity
