Uganda’s already charged post-election atmosphere sharply intensified on Monday, 19 January 2026, following a fierce exchange of words between Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine)—former presidential candidate and runner-up in the just-concluded presidential race—and Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and son of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who was earlier declared winner of the election.
