Kakwenza To Release New Book

Uganda’s renowned and prolific writer, Kakwenza Rukirabashaija who is now exiled and a resident of Germany, will in December release his new book detailing the ordeal he went through, after his arrest in 2021.

Kakwenza who is a very terse critic of president Museveni Tibuhaburwa’s government, surprised the world when, after days of securing court bail, fled the country without a passport.

Kakwenza together with Stella Nyanzi a former Makerere University Don and Kampala woman member of Parliament aspirant, under PEN an international body that brings together writers in the world, are two prominent Ugandan writers who are exiled because they expressly put their opposing opinions to the public.

While announcing the release of his new book, Kakwenza said:

“Do you want to know what happened from 28th December 2021 when my house was broken into by Gen. Muhoozi’s chamchas, taken to SFC dungeons, tortured, smuggled into court, remanded to Maximum prison, released on bail… then fled the country without passport…to Germany in exile?… #newbook ”
