Uganda Today Edition: International Women’s Day: Honouring Women in The Police Force

Every year on March 8th, the world unites to celebrate International Women’s Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the invaluable contributions of women across all sectors. This year, we shine a special spotlight on an extraordinary group—women police officers and the daughters of police women—acknowledging their resilience, professionalism, and commitment to upholding law and order.
The Strength and Sacrifice of Women Police Officers
A female police officer is more than just a law enforcer; she is a beacon of courage, integrity, and selflessness. Every day, these women step forward to ensure the safety and security of their communities, often putting their own lives on the line. Their role extends far beyond maintaining public order—they are peacekeepers, mentors, and protectors.

Women Police Officers: A Testament to Leadership and Excellence
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we take pride in recognizing the exceptional leadership of female officers who have excelled in key positions within the Uganda Police Force. These women have shattered barriers and proven that gender is no limitation in law enforcement. Their contributions span across various specialized units, including:
✅ Senior Leadership – Female Police Directors, Deputy Directors, Commissioners, and Commandants.
✅ Operational and Field Units – Regional Police Commanders (RPCs), District Police Commanders (DPCs), and Officers-in-Charge (OC) of stations and Criminal Investigations (CID).
✅ Traffic, Fire, and Rescue Services – Ensuring public safety and emergency response.
✅ Interpol and International Relations – Strengthening cross-border law enforcement.
✅ Specialized Divisions – Counter-Terrorism (CT), VIP Protection (VIPP), the Police Band, Marine Police, and Radio Room Operations.
✅ Medical and Legal Services – Providing essential support to officers and the public.
✅ Community Liaison Officers (CLOs) – Bridging the gap between law enforcement and the public.
Beyond those in active service, we also honor the mothers, wives, and daughters of police officers, whose unwavering support plays a crucial role in strengthening the force.
A Salute to Their Dedication and Service
The contributions of women police officers cannot be overstated. Their dedication, discipline, and professionalism inspire future generations and reinforce the importance of gender inclusivity in law enforcement. Despite the challenges they face—ranging from workplace biases to personal sacrifices—they continue to serve with passion and resilience.
On this International Women’s Day, we extend our deepest gratitude and respect to all female police officers. Your hard work, bravery, and commitment to protecting our communities do not go unnoticed.
Happy International Women’s Day to all our women in uniform!
