Parliamentary Nomination Dates Pushed to October

The nomination window for Parliamentary candidates, previously set for mid-September, has now been moved to 15th and 16th October 2025. These nominations, including those for Special Interest Groups (Youths, Persons with Disabilities, and Older Persons), will take place at the respective District/City Returning Offices.

Prospective parliamentary aspirants will be able to download their nomination forms and guidelines from the Electoral Commission website starting 11th August 2025.

Presidential Nomination Forms Collection Begins

In preparation for the 2026 Presidential Elections, the Electoral Commission has set 11th August to 24th September 2025 as the official period for aspirants to collect:

  • Presidential nomination forms

  • Supporter forms (requiring signatures from at least 100 registered voters in two-thirds of Uganda’s districts)

  • Official nomination guidelines

These documents are to be collected physically from the Electoral Commission Head Offices on Plot 1-3 & 5, 7th Street, Industrial Area, Kampala, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm on weekdays.

Justice Byabakama emphasized that physical collection allows for accurate identification and coordination with authorities across the country to facilitate presidential aspirants’ movement during the support collection process.

Party representatives collecting forms must present written authorization from their party’s Secretary General or a designated official. Independent aspirants must show proof of voter registration.

Commission Acknowledges Stakeholder Support

Justice Byabakama expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who continue to support the implementation of the electoral roadmap. He particularly recognized voters in the Special Interest Groups for their ongoing participation in grassroots electoral activities.

The Electoral Commission has urged all political parties, aspiring candidates, and the general public to take note of the updated roadmap and fully engage in the process while adhering to the set guidelines.

A soft copy of the complete Electoral Roadmap is accessible via the Commission’s official website: www.ec.or.ug.
