The Baganda community in the United Kingdom is gearing up for a vibrant celebration of culture, unity, and athleticism as the Baganda Clans Annual Sports Day 2025 returns on Sunday, 24th August 2025, at the New River Sports Centre, White Hart Lane, Wood Green, London N22 5QW.

This year marks a significant milestone—34 years since the event’s inception, uniting generations of Baganda families and friends in a joyful showcase of traditional and modern sporting activities.

A Day of Fun, Family and Friendly Competition

Running from 12:00pm to 7:00pm, the day promises a full programme of exhilarating events including 100m, 200m and 400m races, 4x100m relays, walking races, sack races, shot put, long jump, omweso (traditional board game), tug of war, and a competitive five-a-side football tournament for boys, men, and girls. Activities will cater to all ages—from toddlers as young as 3 years to spirited elders aged 95 years.

Organisers have emphasized inclusivity, encouraging participation from people with special needs. “Please contact us if you have people with special needs to see how they can participate,” the event committee urged.

  • Omweso (2:00 – 2:45pm)

  • Omweso (3:00 – 3:30pm)

  • Shot Put & Long Jump (3:30 – 4:00pm)

  • Five-a-side Football (2:30 – 4:30pm)

  • Adult Races (4:00 – 4:30pm)

  • Relays (4:30 – 5:30pm)

  • Tug of War (5:30 – 6:00pm)

  • Shield Presentation Ceremony (6:00 – 6:15pm)
