Buganda’s Sideny takes Miss Tourism 2022-2023
It was pomp and glamour last Saturday at Serena Hotel Kampala when Miss Tourism Buganda region beat 30 other contestants from all regions of Uganda.
The Miss Tourism beauty pageant returned to Serena hotel last Saturday with pomp. Much as the audience was small, the event was well appreciated by fans of contestants who swammed Serena Victoria hall with Vuvuzelas, drums, and whistles as they rallied support for their respective contestants.
The event was opened with dancers from Wembley Mo Foundation who put up a good performance. The contestants then took to the runway amidst Kenneth Mugabi’s performance.
Call it a spoiler or a miscalculation, Kenneth Mugabi’s good music was evidently unrelated as the afro-neo-soul star was programmed to sing to the first walk of displays. The singer sang soul, which is relatively slow compared to the deep house or techno house genres that are known for modelling and pageantry.
Mugabi performed amidst alullations from the audience that kept drumming whistling and chanting the names of their contestants.
There were also performances by Dan Flavour who treated the audience to a couple of music covers in a semi–live arrangement. In a special way, contestant Alice Kyasimire was named the tourism ambassador of Uganda wildlife education centre (UWEC) who were part of the sponsors.
With 30 contestants from different tourism clusters taking part, Queen Sidney Nabulya Kavuma from Buganda region tourism cluster emerged as the winner of the 2022- 2023 Miss Tourism beauty pageant.
