Kampala – Bulange Mmengo The annual Buganda Kingdom Christmas Carols presented in honor of His Majesty the Kabaka of Buganda reached record-breaking splendor this year, courtesy of meticulous organization by BBS Terefayina. As one of over 25 entities representing the Buganda Kingdom, BBS Terefayina stood out for delivering an unforgettable event that left attendees in awe.

The grand occasion, held at the historic Bulange Gardens in Mengo, was graced by Omwana w’Engoma Omumbejja Tebatagwaabwe Nassolo, who represented her father, the Kabaka of Buganda. In her address, Omumbejja Nassolo extended heartfelt Christmas greetings from the Kabaka and commended the participants for their dedication to uplifting the cultural and spiritual heritage of Buganda.

A Spectacle of Music and Recognition

The event was punctuated by angelic performances from various choirs representing different Church of Uganda fraternities. Their harmonious renditions of traditional Christmas carols and Buganda hymns captivated the audience, adding a spiritual and cultural richness to the celebration.

BBS Terefayina’s contribution went beyond organizing the event. The station’s employees, alongside their counterparts from other Buganda Kingdom entities, showcased their singing prowess in a mesmerizing display of unity and talent, under the banner “Abawereza ba Ssabasajja.”

Adding a contemporary touch, the Quintet Band provided live entertainment that enthralled the congregation. Their performance was a seamless blend of traditional and modern music styles, culminating in an electric atmosphere.

The guest list reflected the importance of the occasion, featuring notable dignitaries such as the Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Rt. Rev. Moses Bbanja; the Archbishop of the Orthodox Church, His Eminence Cosmopolitan Mzee; the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga; the Bataka (heads of different Buganda clans) and prominent figures from the central government.

Recognition of Excellence

A highlight of the evening was the recognition of outstanding Buganda Kingdom entities and employees for their exceptional contributions throughout the year. Among the honorees, Ibrahim Kalungi of BBS Terefayina was celebrated as the Employee of the Year. His dedication and innovation in advancing the station’s vision earned him this prestigious accolade, accompanied by a plaque and other prizes.

Other entities were lauded for their outstanding service in various fields, reflecting the collective effort of the Buganda Kingdom to maintain excellence and unity.

The event underscored Buganda Kingdom’s ability to blend culture, faith, and modernity. As attendees departed, they carried with them the joy of the Christmas spirit and a renewed sense of pride in their heritage.
