In the heart of Bunyangabo District lies Rwimi, a region traditionally known for its bustling agricultural and business communities. However, prosperity has often come hand-in-hand with rising crime rates — from theft in markets and gardens to disorderly conduct during harvest celebrations.

But change has come, and with it, renewed hope for the people of Rwimi. At the center of this transformation is ASP Sibomana Gerald, affectionately referred to by locals as the “peaceful steel wire” — a testament to his resilience and strength in the face of crime.

Since his deployment as Officer in Charge (OC) of Rwimi Police Station, ASP Sibomana Gerald has worked tirelessly with his team to reduce criminal incidents in the area. His approach combines community sensitization, strategic policing, and consistent law enforcement, all anchored in values of discipline, teamwork, and respect for human rights.

One of his greatest achievements has been his commitment to educating the community against mob justice, urging locals to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. Through outreach programs and community engagements, ASP Sibomana and his team have fostered a sense of mutual responsibility and trust between police and civilians.

“As iron sharpens iron,” the OC is known for keeping his team sharp — regularly conducting briefings, carefully deploying personnel, and personally monitoring field operations to ensure effective service delivery. His leadership has not only uplifted the morale of his officers but also brought a renewed sense of order to Rwimi.

Despite the modest resources available to law enforcement, the value of ASP Sibomana’s contribution to Rwimi is immeasurable. Once considered a “black spot” of crime, the area now gleams with a silver lining of safety, dignity, and progress — thanks to his unwavering dedication.

The people of Rwimi are especially grateful for an officer who works beyond the call of duty, bringing both professionalism and a human touch to policing. His 14th intake cohort is indeed fortunate to count him among their own — a symbol of excellence in community policing.

Rwimi Bunyangabo is on the rise, and at its frontline of transformation stands ASP Sibomana Gerald, the steel wire holding it all together.
