Ashanah Says Museveni Isn’t A Father Of The Nation .
We Expect You To Investigate All Cases Of Corruption And Convict All Those Involved Regardless Of Who They Are To You.
Uganda Today Edition: We Are Not Your Children.
When you are being flown for better healthcare abroad, here at home, our relatives and friends are dying like flies due to inadequately stocked and understaffed hospitals.
When your children are attaining quality education from expensive private schools, ours are sitting under tree shades and in dilapidated classroom blocks, with hardly any educational materials.
When your children are inheriting government jobs and getting contracts of all kinds, our sisters and brothers are being flown away in droves to go and work as housemaids and casual labourers in the Middle East. And, when they are treated inhumanely and they raise concerns about the poor working conditions, we never see you come to their rescue, to help them attain justice.
When you are misappropriating our(taxpayers) money and diverting funds to vanity projects like big cars and houses ezitunula ng’omuntu, we are sleeping on the streets, dying in accidents on potholed roads, and getting evicted from our homes either by greedy land grabbers or by NEMA that claims that we are illegally living in a wetland. Only the rich get away with destroying wetlands.
When we rise up to exercise our constitutional rights, you start calling us your children. You start throwing unsolicited advice on how we should express our dissatisfaction. You can not steal our futures by drying the national coffers and ignoring your duties and then also steal our voices by dictating on how we should exercise our rights.
We are not your children!!!!
Stop calling us your children when it’s convenient for you. We are not your children!! Museveni, we are not your grandchildren.
Janet Kataha, you are not our mother.
Col. Edith Nakalema, we are not your children. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, we are not your children.
We are stakeholders in this country called Uganda. We are citizens.
We need to be treated as citizens, not your children.
We demand better service delivery: Roads, not potholes.
Fully equipped and well staffed hospitals, not ghost costly projects like Lubowa. Well equipped educational facilities, not tree shades and dilapidated classrooms.
Freedom of expression and assembly, not threats, illegal unlawful arrests, kidnaps, disappearances, and detention without trial.
We demand an end to corruption, a cancer that has cost us so much. We expect you to stop abuse of office by government officials.
We expect you to investigate all cases of corruption and convict all those involved regardless of who they are to you.
We demand that you stop making it look like you are doing us a favour by being in that office. We shouldn’t be reminding you of your duties.
We are not your children. Stop infantilizing us.
Stop threatening us.
Stop dictating for us how we should demand accountability. We are only exercising our constitutional rights.
Respect the CONSTITUTION. Ashanah.
