UgandaToday: Apex Digital Skills Initiative Launches Amid Questions Over Funding and Sustainability
Kampala, Uganda | September 14, 2025

A new non-profit initiative, Apex Digital Skills (ADS), has been launched in Uganda with the aim of equipping young people with practical training in digital media, technology, and creative content production.
The program will offer free courses in video editing, radio production, graphic design, coding, digital marketing, and basic artificial intelligence, targeting youth eager to gain employable skills in an increasingly digital economy.
Targeting 5,000 Youth in the First Year
The launch took place at the Apex Media Services Hub in Kampala, where organizers outlined plans to reach at least 5,000 young people within the first year. Training sessions are expected to extend beyond Kampala to districts including Wakiso, Mbarara, and Gulu.
A Personal Investment in Youth Empowerment
The initiative was founded and is being personally funded by Ugandan media entrepreneur Nyanzi Martin Luther, who redirected substantial resources from his commercial ventures into ADS. Early estimates suggest that startup costs have already exceeded UGX 250 million, covering infrastructure, equipment, and training materials.
Questions of Sustainability
While the program has been widely praised as a timely intervention for youth skilling, questions linger about its long-term sustainability, given its reliance on personal funding. Organizers, however, remain optimistic that partnerships and community support will sustain and expand the initiative over time.
The training is free of charge. Those who are interested in joing, can reach out on email::apexmediauganda@gmail.com
