UgandaToday: Evelyn Anite Celebrates Husband’s Return: ‘Goodbye to Starvation!’

Former State Minister for Investment and Uganda People’s Congress-turned-NRM politician Evelyn Anite has expressed excitement over the return of her husband, affectionately referred to as her “darling Captain,” after spending time working abroad.

Anite shared her happiness with her followers in a playful social-media message celebrating the reunion, describing the return as a moment that has brought back both her happiness and appetite.

‘My Darling Captain Is Finally in Town’

In her message, Anite wrote: “Guys, my darling Captain is finally in town!”, accompanying the post with heart, love and aeroplane emojis.

She said her husband’s arrival had filled her with happiness and excitement, adding that she was experiencing the “butterflies” that come with being reunited with a favourite person.

“My heart is full of happiness, excitement & butterflies! My favorite person is here, and honestly, I couldn’t be happier,” she wrote.

The post offered followers a glimpse into the lighter and more personal side of the former minister, away from the political arena where she has spent much of her public life.

‘Goodbye to Starvation!’

The politician then added a humorous twist to her message, joking that her husband’s return had brought an end to what she described as “starvation.”

“And finally… goodbye to starvation!” she joked, before adding that her “happiness—and appetite—are officially back!”

The playful remarks have drawn attention because of their cheeky tone, with Anite using humour to express the joy of having her husband back home.

A Personal Moment Shared Publicly

While Anite is widely known for her political career and public engagements, her latest message centred not on politics or public affairs but on family and companionship.

Her post reflects how public figures increasingly use social media to share personal milestones and everyday moments with their followers.

For Anite, the return of her husband appears to have provided a welcome moment of happiness, affection and laughter.

From Politics to Personal Happiness

Anite served in government as State Minister for Investment before leaving the ministerial position. Her political career has included prominent roles within Uganda’s political landscape.

But in this particular post, politics took a back seat as she celebrated a more intimate milestone—the return of her husband from abroad.

Her humorous reference to her appetite returning has also given the post a distinctly playful character, making it one of those personal updates that resonates beyond the conventional political headlines.

For now, Anite appears delighted to have her “favorite person” back in town—and she is not keeping her happiness to herself.
